Commissioned by CDM Studio, James completed the detailed airbrush artwork for a life-sized whale shark model, bringing the sculpture to life through carefully layered colour, texture and realistic surface detailing.
Working from reference imagery, the artwork required precision and consistency across the model's full scale, with subtle tonal variations and distinctive markings applied to accurately represent one of the world's largest fish.
Originally created for the Australian Museum in 2021, the whale shark now forms part of the marine exhibition at WA Museum Boola Bardip, where it continues to inspire visitors through an immersive museum experience.
