James was commissioned to restore decorative elements of the iconic Perth Zoo Carousel, leading a comprehensive refurbishment of the carousel's external panels. Working alongside fellow artist Matt from Stock to Shock, the project involved repairing damaged components, refinishing intricate ornamental details and applying durable protective clear coats to preserve the artwork.
The restoration required careful colour matching and hand-finished detailing to respect the character of the original carousel while ensuring the refreshed elements blended seamlessly with the existing structure.
More than a decade later, James continues to return annually to carry out maintenance and conservation work, helping preserve one of Perth Zoo's most recognisable attractions for future generations.
